Knit Harem Pants & Slouch Beanie Hat

Sharing is caring!

A matching set in euro bus knit, with harem pants and a slouch beanie. I love sewing for boys, and this set is both comfy and cute! Sewn from two PDF patterns for boys.

A few months ago, I was sent this fantastic fabric for free in exchange for sewing it up and posting about it on the Mabel Madison blog – I’m finally bringing it here to share now! I’ve worked with them in the past, on this round-up of free baby pants sewing patterns, so I knew I was in for a treat with their Euro knit. I’ve never seen anything like this set in stores; I love being able to make unique pieces for my son. People say they have trouble sewing for boys, but I haven’t run into that yet!

The fabric is “Get Around Downtown” by Stenzo; a 95% cotton 5% Lycra blend that is Oeko-Tex certified textile, which means it was made using eco-friendly practices and without harmful chemicals.

It is all trucks, all the time in our house so I knew he’d be excited to try it all on. I dress both my kids pretty much exclusively in knit fabric; it is more comfortable and doesn’t inhibit any of their wildness.

bus pants

I heavily modified the “Best Harem Pants” by Too Sweets, making the dropped crotch much more narrow, and adding a higher rise to the back. I found the perfect matching blue in my ‘upcycle’ pile and added some simple knee patches, making the pants more durable.

The hat is a freebie; I knew I liked the fit after trying it out for this post, which also has the link to the pattern!

harem pants movement

As you can see, full range of motion is allowed in these pants. The best part is, even though I sewed these last Fall, by adding an inch of length to the ankle, I bet they’ll fit again this year! My daughter will eventually inherit the set as well, fortunately I know Euro knit washes nicely.

Have you ever sewn with Euro knit?
