Embroidered Death Star Snappy Tee – Muse of the Morning Blog Tour

I hope you’re prepared for some Star Wars love, because I am in a geeky mood this month! Today I am a stop on Muse of the Morning‘s blog tour, and I sewed up the Billy Bright Eyes Snappy Tee in a size 2T {this does mean I received the pattern for free – but my opinions are my opinions regardless}. Chrissy, the designer behind the blog and shop, gave us our choice of pattern and I knew I wanted to try out this cute little top. My son has a gigantic head, so snap plackets help make getting dressed less of a struggle. I used a fabulous free embroidery pattern from Wild Olive to embroider the Death Star applique on some t-shirt scraps (I did enlarge it about 30%), you can find that file on her blog here.

My son has a gigantic head so I’m always looking for ways to accommodate his noggin. The snap placket does just that; he loved it because I wasn’t wiggling the neckline over his ears like usual.

The pattern instructions were clear and the pieces came together easily, I had no issues assembling or sewing. I did have some fit hiccups on the sleeve; I think with a bit more give in the fabric it wouldn’t have been a problem but I did have to really stretchhh to make it work.

I did add a band at the bottom for extra length; my son has a serious case of toddler-belly and it helps keep him covered!

Perfect for a boy on the go!

Be sure to click over and check out Chrissy’s other patterns because during the pattern tour only (May 1 – 17), you can get all Muse of the Morning patterns for 30% off using code BLOGTOUR30! (It only works on the Muse of the Morning website, not etsy or craftsy). Also there is a giveaway for a free Muse of the Morning pattern, go enter  here! Check out all the other participating blogs as well – one of my favorite things is seeing the same pattern sewn up different ways.

That death star is great! The reverse applique look surrounding it really helps it stand out too. :)

Thanks Ajaire! I like playing around with applique — and it uses up scraps which I know you’re a pro at 😉
