13+ quick & easy english paper piecing patterns

english paper piecing small projects

English paper piecing is such a fun way to sew! I’ve rounded up some of my favorite english paper piecing small projects that are great for beginners (like me) in the hopes of inspiring someone to try it. It’s super portable, the pieces themselves are sewn by hand, and great for using up fabric scraps. This is a round-up of different ways you can use EPP to make something smaller than a standard quilt.

There isn’t a tutorial, but just in case you want some inspiration for a project beyond the beginner level, check out the EPP hexie quilt my mom sewed!

Isn’t it stunning? You can see more pictures of the EPP hexagon quilt here.

Hexagons seem to be the most popular shape to paper piece by far, but I hope to also experiment with other shapes. Here are a few examples I found:

If you’re new to paper piecing, why not try a kit or pattern!

Bold Hexie Coasters from Diane/CraftyPod for Swatch & Stitch; I love how bright and modern these are, I need more coasters so this is going on my project list! They’re not online anymore but keeping the image up for inspiration.

Hexagon Headband from Hugs are Fun; This would be a great gift, I think my nieces would love them.

Mini-Hexie Necklace from The Zen of Making; These teeny tiny hexagons are awesome, you could add embroidery to personalize it too.

EPP Stockings from Messy Jesse; These stockings look like a great way to put UFOs or tester blocks to good use!

A Mini Quilt from Modern Handcraft; This would be beautiful on a wall! She has since made a bigger version that I’ve been drooling over on Instagram.

Little Organizing Basket from Lilla Luise, I’m a sucker for bins, baskets, and organizing stuff and this would be a great way to see your handiwork all the time! Not online anymore but leaving up for inspiration, maybe I’ll remake this tutorial sometime soon since hers isn’t available anymore.

Key Chain & Tote from Sewing by Stephanie- This looks like a great teacher gift! Coordinating sets are fun.

EPP Organizer from Fabric Mutt; Right now all my stuff is in a plastic baggie; this organizer for EPP, with EPP on the front is perfect!

Fruity EPP Placemats from Wild Olive; These are so summery and happy.

EPP patchwork ball from While She Naps, my kids would love playing with this.
