We were in temporary housing for four months while we moved out of state, and I stitched up this bunny embroidery pattern while we were on the road! I love how portable embroidery is and I did a lot of it while my sewing machine sat in the moving pod. This is such a simple spring decor piece; I normally would paint the hoop a bright color but I still haven’t unpacked my paint, ha!

This pattern is available on the DMC thread website [2024 edit – it is no longer available :(] and was designed by Cozy Blue, one of my favorite designers! I’ve also stitched her Moon Phase pattern and have two of her kits on my list of modern embroidery kits.

I used my favorite embroidery pattern transfer method, per usual! Check out how to use it, in this post about how to use Fabri-Solvy. If you’re new to embroidery, you can also check out my favorite embroidery tools in this post, and see how to do the two stitches that this pattern calls for in this post about basic embroidery stitches.

The pattern uses a french knot and a running stitch. The sample stitched on the page uses fluffier knots, but I experimented and liked the look when I was only using 2 or 3 strands of floss (instead of all 6).

I initially started these with pink bunnies and white tails but ripped it out. My gut reaction is always to shoulder through and convince myself that I like it more than I do, but I’ve finally gained the wisdom to stop, evaluate, and restart so I genuinely love the finished product.  Aren’t they cute? If I could find out where my kids hid them, I’d have photographed this bunny embroidery pattern alongside the felt mini bunnies that I stitched. Once I get my mantel cleaned off, it will be displayed next to the felt bunny bunting that I sewed last week!

Do you do seasonal stitching projects? This is such a good spring embroidery project!

Can’t find this bunny on the DMC site, but I think I can draw something similar for myself! I have such fun with all your creative ideas! <3

aw man it seems like they took down a ton of their free patterns and I'm not sure why, I'm sorry!! But yes, you could even blow up my photo and trace it off a laptop or ipad screen honestly!
