Doll Stroller Makeover

A thrift shop doll stroller gets a makeover into a colorful, modern version! See how paint and fresh fabric can transform a dated toy.

I turned a boring toy into a colorful and modern doll stroller! Everyone who crafts and sews has a project they’ve started and stalled out on; when you’re a blogger it is even easier to get caught up in pattern tours and sponsored post deadlines. Recently, I’ve been intentionally turning things down and carving out time to finish some of the projects that I started or bought supplies for, and it feels great. I spray painted the frame for the diy doll stroller makeover, picked out a fabric, and then let the whole thing hang out under my cutting table for months. until now.

I cut off the old seat and reverse engineered it; just tracing it out. Since it was a single layer with bias tape bound edges, it was pretty simple.

I used real buckles instead of velcro like the original; my kids love buckling things. The straps were salvaged from a real umbrella stroller that I accidentally mangled with our van, I knew that saving it would come in handy!

My daughter’s teddy (from my Hipster Teddy Bear pattern) fit in just perfectly! Honestly I don’t think my kids care at all about how it looks, but I love the bright colors so much compared to the original drab green and brown. It reminds me of the doll crib makeover I did a while back, I guess our stuffed animals and baby dolls all live in style around here!

I love this! My kids threw away the cloth "seat" when it tore so now I am on the hunt for a pattern to redo our beloved baby stroller.

That is just adorable! Did you just paint the stroller structure itself? It looks a gazillion times cooler! :) Lisa
