Jackalope Tee – One Thimble Issue 8 Giftables!

Have you started thinking about holiday gifts yet? Rebecca mentioned using One Thimble Issue 8 patterns to start checking people off her list and I decided to organize a week of posts doing just that! I jumped at the chance to sew up a Jackalope Tee, from Momma Quail Patterns. My friend Amy is the woman behind the designs (she blogs here) and she came up with a winner! It fits sizes 2-14, with cuff and band options, and these fun inset stripes for the bodice and arms. You can use knit or woven for the stripes – perfect for scrap busting, which is always my favorite!

I love how the accent panel connects! I always see people asking how to use flannel in clothes, and this would be a great spot.

This is a size 4, which he measured for. Amy is awesome and I trust her, so I didn’t even muslin. I did use the cuffed length and then added a band – extra length is always a plus for my son’s big belly.

The front is a semi-failed Inkodye project (you can see more details here) but you wouldn’t know it from his reaction, he LOVES this shirt. Loves it. I’m making a matching one for his best buddy, and he won’t stop pestering me about if I’ve sewn it yet or not.

I’ve shown you how I embroidered size tags on fabric scraps with my machine’s “alphabet stitches” before – this time I did it on twill tape! So cute.

Naturally, lots of hijinks tested the fit of this pattern 🙂 He literally cried when we took it off to wash it, there will be more jackalope tees in his future and in my gifting arsenal!
