Faux gem magnets will keep your notes and reminders hanging in style! Simple embroidery stitches and felt scraps make this a quick and easy diy gift idea. Free pattern and tutorial in this sponsored post. #ad

I love gemstone and agate designs, but anything remotely rock-like gets stolen by my children, to be pushed around by their toy bulldozers, so I needed to get creative. Adding some graphic gem designs to our house has been on my decorating list for a while, and I recently had the motivation to hang up some visual affirmations. Reminders help me maintain some of the changes I’ve been working towards in the new year! I have a free pattern and tutorial for how to make felt faux gem magnets if you want to try yourself; they are quick and easy – I can picture a whole set in jewel tones.

These are some of my favorite colors, so I love having them up on the fridge. I like these so much better than the plain, boring ones we were using before!

Silk products make it easy to switch towards more plant based products – I didn’t know they even had non-dairy yogurt until this post but my husband is going to be happy. He grew up loving cow milk and yogurt, but realized as an adult that he felt a lot better not drinking/eating it.

Steps

1- Transfer the pattern on to the felt and stitch around the design with the perle cotton floss. I used a simple back stitch. If you used Fabri Solvy, now is the time to rinse it away! Lay the gem shape on top of the felt and cut a second, matching shape for the back.

2- Use the coordinating floss (1 strand) or thread and hand sew a running stitch (or blanket stitch would work too) around the outer edges. Stop with about 1″ open and gently insert stuffing, then the magnet, and more stuffing around it. I like using hemostats to get stuffing in there! Finish sewing it closed, and you’re done!

How are your New Year’s resolutions going – what will you put up on your fridge as a visual reminder?
