Modern Embroidery Sampler Pattern

Modern embroidery sampler

I finished a fun modern embroidery sampler! This is designed by Dropcloth Samplers and you can buy it on Etsy.  I’ve been working on it slowly, for close to a year (I went back on Instagram to check my progress!). I really love embroidery samplers and trying different stitches out, it gives you the “finished project” rush of dopamine over and over again! I got hung up with what to do in the middle; the “color wheel” that I ended up with is far from perfect but I still like it. One of my favorite things about embroidery projects is that I always remember where I was when I worked on them, so I have fun family memories hanging on my wall.

If you’re looking for other fun projects, check out my list of modern embroidery kits!

This is a modern embroidery sampler pattern from Dropcloth Samplers, she sells them as preprinted panels on Etsy*. I was a little underwhelmed at the fabric quality, I found it to be quite thin and the square *barely* fit in this hoop, the fabric wasn’t wide enough to pull through on all 4 corners and I had to glue it in. Definitely use interfacing before you start stitching! Fortunately I remembered to add it after stitching my last project, this alphabet embroidery sampler.

I really like how she included the stitch name right by all of the stitches, it makes it a handy little reference hoop hanging on my wall! These are all pretty simple stitches that you can find lots of tutorials for online, which makes it really accessible. The designer has a book about embroidery as well, “Rebecca Ringquist’s Embroidery Workshops”* but I haven’t read it.

I don’t think I’d ever tried coral knots before. I really like the herringbone stitch too – do you see any of your favorites? This pattern* would be a great gift for someone who wants to start embroidering, just add a hoop, needle, and rainbow of floss! I’m not sure I’ll ever stop stitching samplers, they’re my favorite.

Pin this color wheel embroidery sampler for later, here!

I'm super sorry Ruth, I didn't submit it to them, they must have just misread it. I left a comment asking them to update it showing it is not free or delete it.

Email says Rainbow Embroidery Sampler - Free Pattern However I can't find a link that doesn't lead to a site that requires a purchase. Is it free or not?

Hi Ruth, it is not free, did you see somewhere that it said it was? This pattern is sold on ETsy and linked in the second paragraph; she actually sells them as preprinted panels instead of patterns you have to transfer. Here is a direct affiliate link to it: http://tidd.ly/86cc5f77

I wish the sampler directions were on your page. But this is a great fun idea. It makes me want to do embroidery again. I still have all my Erica Wilson's books.

It's not my pattern, I just stitched it :) You'll have to click through and buy it from Dropcloth studios (although it doesnt come with directions per se, just the panel. I have more embroidery kits linked here: https://swoodsonsays.com/modern-embroidery-kits/ and some free patterns here: https://swoodsonsays.com/free-embroidery-patterns/ :) Happy stitching and thanks for reading.
