The One Romper from Filles a Maman & Danny Donut Applique from Cut Sew Love- One Thimble Issue 13

Kawaii donut applique on a romper PDF pattern - all from ONe Thimble Issue 13.

It’s been a while since I tried to photograph one of my kids’ clothes, but I decided it was worth it because I was dying to try out these two fun patterns from the latest issue of One Thimble! I sewed up the One Romper from Filles a Maman and added on one of the Kawaii Applique from Cut Sew Love.

One Thimble* is a cool Australian magazine with lots of patterns, articles, and beautiful pictures. I’ve had a few patterns in there, and the editor Jen is amazing. I had signed up for the romper and then got even more excited once I saw Ajaire’s beautiful blue & striped version.

This is the Danny Donut pattern; it has instructions for how to use Wonder Under or a similar product for applique. I did that and then used my secret embroidery weapon, Fabri-Solvy. If you haven’t used it before, check out this post for a pictorial, but basically you stitch through and then wash away.

This is how it turned out, all stitched up and sewn on! Pretty cute. The romper pattern has cut lines/instructions to make it into a tshirt too – check out this cute version!

The pink fabric is actually Target jersey sheets, I try to catch them on clearance after “back to school” stuff has been put on sale. You can see some of the other things I’ve made from sheets in this post!

I think her favorite thing by far is the POCKETS! She recently discovered pockets and is subsequently obsessed. They are the perfect spot for tiny treasures.

I like to share a back shot of any pattern I sew; this has a vertical seam down the back. You can also see from this angle that the size 2 has plenty of room for a cloth diaper.

The pain design element is this placket! There is a button or snap guide printable, which I really appreciated. The romper goes from sizes 12/18m-14 years, which is a huge age range. This was my first FAM pattern; it was pretty easy to follow and had clear digitized illustrations. I still prefer actual photographs, but had no trouble following the steps. There are also cutting lines to use the pattern as a plain tshirt, which is a nice twist! I’ll definitely be sewing another one of these, and my daughter loved how comfy it was (and of course, the donut embellishment)- be sure to check out One Thimble* issue 13 for both patterns!
