I’m excited to share another upcycle idea list, this one is for upcycled flannel shirts! I know these are often made as memorial gifts but it’s also an easy item to scoop up at thrift stores. There are no sew flannel crafts as well as upcycle and refashion flannel sewing tutorials so something for everyone; there’s no excuse to trash old flannels now!

Emilie posted this in a Facebook upcycle sewing group and kindly let me share – she used the Patterns 4 Pirates zipper pocket infinity scarf pattern and cut up flannel shirts to make them!

Make a fun fall accessory by turning a button up flannel into a drawstring backpack, with a tutorial at A Beautiful Mess.

I am skeptical of how this would hold up using glue but I think the idea is creative and it would be easy to sew instead, too!

• This isn’t my aesthetic but it’s so cute, Nora Jane transformed a men’s flannel shirt into a fun skirt.
• There’s no tutorial but it’s great inspiration (and any drawstring bag tutorial would work!), see how Larissa Another Day used a shirt and turned it into a drawstring bag.
• Cuffs are often the first thing that get cut off, see how to turn them into fun little pouches over at Tatertots & Jello.
• If you have a small enough pooch, turn a flannel shirt into a dog coat and keep pupper warm! Tutorial over at Bevy Kona.
