What I’ve Been Sewing Lately – Newborn & Nursery

Sharing is caring!

Baby & Nursery Sewing

I like sharing what I sew, even if I don’t think each project is interesting enough for its own post, so I’ve been saving them up. Some of this was sewn pre-baby and some more recently, but it’s all for little people!

Nursery

Stereo Quilt Jaybird Quilts

This is totally interesting enough for its own post, but I didn’t actually sew it! My Mom made my son a baby quilt and now she’s made my daughter one, isn’t is gorgeous! Her name is appliqued on (hidden for privacy) and the back is all sorts of fun polka dots. My mom is so talented! Now I can take my daughter’s weekly baby pictures on her very own quilt.

Pattern: Stereo by Jaybird Quilts

Fabrics: Yikes. Too many to list! You’ll spy some Cotton + Steel, Birch Organics, and several from my Mom’s stash as well.

Orange Boppy Cover

Green boppy cover

I nursed my son until he was 18 months old so my previous Boppy covers had been through a lot, I sewed two pretty new ones!

Pattern: Tutorial from Vanilla Joy (full disclosure, I just use the pattern piece & insert an invisible zip along the seam, I don’t follow her steps)

Fabric:  Cotton & Steel Mesa Stars Green / Art Gallery Elements Prisma Apricot Sunstone

Organic crib sheet

I love Birch Fabrics! I used this fabric initially for a tutorial on their blog, for an arrow pillow, and bought some more for a crib sheet. I know this is a lame way to photograph it, but her crib is in our room, and our room is a disaster. Not only is it a disaster, it has hot pink walls that makes taking accurately colored photos difficult.

Pattern: Tutorial from Dana Made It (you know I love upcycling jersey sheets for clothes– I always cut out the elastic to reuse, and it’s perfect for crib sheets!)

Fabric: Jay-Cyn Designs for Birch Fabrics, Serengeti, Quill Stripe Multi

green pouf

Pouf! My son was rocked to sleep, so a pouf was a must to rest my feet on. My daughter prefers to nurse or be bounced to sleep, so it hasn’t gotten a whole lot of use. You can see the first pouf I made for my son here – I wanted an update for the second baby, but also something a little tamer that would fit in the rest of the house once the kiddo is older.

Pattern:  Amy Butler Gum Drop Pillow pattern *

Fabric:  Can’t find it online, but an apple green home dec weight cotton from Jo-Ann Fabrics.

Embellished Burp Rags

These are a baby gift for a dear friend! My Mom made me some in a similar way and I use them constantly, so I thought I’d pass along the favor.

Pattern:  None! I just added embellishments to these prefold diapers*

Fabric:  The purple is ‘ On Top of the World Damask Lilac by Quilting Treasures‘ & the green is ‘ ABC Menagerie Grass by Moda

Clothes

Baby in Birch Fabrics

Eek! She is already so much bigger, and this picture was taken just a month ago. I added a band to the rise of the pants because we cloth diaper, but then the CDs we had didn’t work for her. So that’s why they look extra long!

striped DIY baby leggings

Baby feet! I made these extra long with extra rise too, so they’ll fit for a while. I’m a lazy sewist.

Pattern: Lollipop Leggings* from Peek-a-boo Patterns

Fabric: Upcycled t-shirt

Baby Knit Hats

Another gift! I ordered sleepers off her registry and made hats to match them. So fast and easy with a 1/4 yard of knit fabric.

That’s it! I’ll be sharing what I’ve sewn for my son lately in another post, he hasn’t been totally ignored.
