It’s a new pattern release! Introducing the Roly Poly Critters – my latest pattern, a set of four cute animals—a panda, sloth, fox, and raccoon. These soft balls are fun to roll, throw, or hug—little fingers will instantly be drawn to touching their faces. A finished critter is about 7” (17.78 cm) across and tall.
I initially designed these thinking of them as a baby toy, but my 3.5 year old son has had a ton of fun throwing them into the basketball hoop. There is something about animal faces that everyone loves! You could easily applique the faces on to a plain square pillow as well.

This pattern was initially released in One Thimble Issue 11*, an online sewing magazine. Jen, the publisher, does an amazing job – it includes a ton of patterns, articles, and other tutorials. I already shared a bunch of my testers photos, in this sneak peek post, and I’m linking a few of the softies that have popped up during the blog tour, below!
This cutie is almost distracting from the critters – how adorable! This set was from the official One Thimble photo shoot.
I also have loved seeing:
- Ula sewed a sloth, I love seeing her daughter playing with it.
- Rachel sewed up a cute little fox for Pattern Revolution – go check it out!
- Ajaire sewed a fox AND a panda, her daughter is just the cutest so I loved seeing her with them.
Shop now and sew up some roly polys for yourself!
