3 Fall Raglans – It’s Kids Clothes Week!

Sharing is caring!

It’s Kids Clothes Week! And I started a day too early! I thought I was totally on top of it, and that it started on Sunday, only to log-in and be reminded that it’s not until tomorrow. Oh well! Hopefully this post will remind YOU of the starting date. If you haven’t heard of Kids Clothes Week, the premise is simple – sew for an hour each day, for your own kids, for a week. You can read more here; there is also a site to upload your projects if you’d like, or you can hashtag on Instagram, etc.

All three shirts are 3T Recess Raglans, all made from upcycled shirts. The dog was actually cut off a thrifted shirt of my sons; the neckline became so stretched out it was unwearable but I think he looks way cuter now! I will never get tired of taking boring/stained/ill fitting shirts from my (and my family’s, thanks Mom!) closet and making them into bright, funky stuff for my son. I also used my sewing machine’s fun number stitching function to make little size tags from scraps!

The theme for the week is ‘Once Upon A Time’ and one of my quick, upcycled raglans has a nod to one of my son’s favorite books, The Pout Pout Fish*.  If your kiddo loves this phrase too (always elicits a giggle from mine!) feel free to use the free stencil download (print at 100%; I used mine with freezer paper). It should be noted the little dots to the left aren’t in it.. I accidentally made one dot and decided to try and make it look intentional. I’d recommend you just be less sloppy than me, ha. If you are into kids books, you might also want to check out my post matching our top 10 favorites with free softie sewing patterns!

This last picture is just for kicks – he LOVES pumpkins (obsessed, asks for them all the time, tries to steal our neighbors’, etc.) and anything ball shaped so this is a perfect shot of his favorite things. Tennis ball, golf ball, pumpkin.

Are you sewing for Kids Clothes Week? What are you making? I will be working on printing & tracing some sweatshirts in his size for fall, probably a hangout hoodie* and a bimaa!

I have been doing so much upcycling lately. It is my absolute favorite because I am a true OOAK snob. I just love having clothes no one else can duplicate (hopefully) Those shirts are great. I still have no idea what I am making. I need to get my ideas under wraps. Quick!

I LOVE upcycled t shirts. And the raglan style is so easy for the kids to wear! I started early too. Sewing a costume for my out of town grandson. In the mail today. Good job with those shirts. You never have too many!

They really are satisfying, and what he wears most. Can't wait to see your costume Donna!
