Jackalope Tee, Take 2 – Momma Quail Blog Tour & Sale

Jackalope Tee sewn by Swoodson Says, in Lillestoff monster truck fabricAre you ready to see my son’s favorite shirt ever? It’s a Jackalope Tee that I sewed as a part of the Momma Quail Pattern Tour!! Amy, the designer behind Momma Quail, is awesome and I have been so delighted to see her pattern designs grow and flourish. In addition to my first Jackalope Tee, I’ve also sewn her Little Papa Briefcase which is so fun. I had initially planned on sewing the Fix it All Coveralls as a carseat safe warm-suit for my daughter but I melted the zipper! Hoping to fix that soon and share them – be sure to click through to her shop and see the other designs she has.

As a part of the tour, I received a copy of the Fix it All Coveralls for free, I already had received the Jackalope tee for free, but all opinions are my own!

Lillestoff Monster Truck Knit

The Jackalope  Tee is such a fun design – the side accent panels can be made from woven or knit, which is perfect for scraps!

This is a size 4 sewn with extra length in the body and the sleeves (I used the “hemmed” length and added the band, and added 2 inches of length for the sleeves). I used my fancy Lillestoff knits so I wanted to make sure that this would fit for a while! I purchased the fabric from Seedsof3 on Etsy – the orange is Lillestoff too but it wasn’t a perfect match. Oh well.

Jackalope Tee Front

He had spotted the fabric when I prewashed it and had been asking me daily when he’d have his shirt, so I felt so good to hand it over. I hope he grows up as excited about turning a piece of fabric into something you can wear as I am!

I ran out of orange thread so I skipped the topstitching on the back. Seams don’t bother him, so I wasn’t worried about function, and I actually don’t mind the mixing of finishes!

Jackalope Tee Detail

I had the hardest time getting him to hold his hands up and show off the stripes – but it looks so cool when he is running around! I really love this pattern and know it will get sewn over and over again (it has a short sleeve option too, hello summer!).

I just love that fabric - especially paired with the orange! John would flip if I let him see it! Thank you for being on the tour, friend ;)

I sew for my 5 y/o twin girls and 2 y/o boy, myself, and sometimes even my husband if he'll agree (he's so picky about his clothes). My son is quite the flatterer--any time he sees something he deems pretty, he'll ask me if I made it! Very gratifying that he appreciates my creativity. :p
