Paper Pieced Geometric Reindeer

I love this paper pieced reindeer!! I am so proud of this project (I received this pattern for free as a participant in the Christmas in July bundle sale, but all opinions are my own). I have paper pieced a few things, I initially tried it as a part of Try Something New Every Month last year and then made a wall hanging this year but both were very simple shapes. I sewed up this 12″ block and hope to make it into a pillow, but wanted to share it by itself first. You can also see the paper pieced Christmas tree I made to match. If you’re looking for more paper piecing ideas, be sure to check out my post with a bunch of cool free paper piecing patterns!

I sewed this as a part of the Christmas in July sewing pattern bundle sale I participated in – it is over now but if you’re curious to learn more so you can be ready next year, click over and check out this post for more details! If you’re looking for just this pattern by itself, you can find it here and there is also a bundle with a wreath, sled, tree, and this reindeer.

christmas fabric paper piecing

I used up all the scraps I saved from the Christmas quilt I made my mother-in-law, it is the it is the 2015 Cotton + Steel line, Tinsel*. I LOVE the colors I even used the selvages and itty bitty scraps to make scrappy Christmas ornaments!.

quiet play reindeer

I was really intimidated by the antlers; it was a terrible spot to start, but once I got back in the rhythm of paper piecing it all went together easily. Have you tried foundation paper piecing?

Stephanie, this is gorgeous!!! Truly stunning. I am totally intimidated by paper piecing but you make me want to try it! And the colors are fantastic. I just ordered Christmas fabric to try and get a head start on my Christmas sewing this year. Lol.

Thank you Shelly! Paper piecing is so fun, you have to try it. Like I said, it takes a bit to get into the method but once you're in the rhythm it goes so quickly. I ALREADY ordered Christmas fabric for a project this year, ack!!
