Check out my latest quilting project! I tried my hand at foundation paper piecing again, making a wall hanging for my friend’s son. If you aren’t familiar, foundation paper piecing means the pattern is printed on a sheet of paper and you sew the fabric through the paper (and then rip the paper off). I first tried it as a part of TSNEM (try something new every month) last year, it takes a few tries to get your head wrapped around it but then it’s pretty easy.
I used the (editor’s note, this pattern is no longer available 🙁 she shut down her site) Apple Pie Pattern from Sarah at Sew What Sherlock and Wildland fabric from Birch Organics.
I’ve been trying to up my photography game lately, and took the opportunity to snap some shots at an old barn near my house. Can you see the door hinges? They have tiny little stars in them! I really hope someone buys the barn when they buy the property and salvage it.

I tried to get a shot of each fabric I used; I love how vibrant the colors are!
The only hiccup I had was cutting the middle square too small – I added a teeny tiny border around it to compensate, you can barely see it unless you’re up close. I used a different fabric for two of the flying geese blocks, just to add some variety of color. 8 of these would make a cozy lap quilt – I love the impact from the bigger size (I realize now, I also loved the mega HSTs in my last quilt!).

Thanks! Hope it goes well - my first quilt, I was swearing I'd never make one again but I can't seem to quit now :)
